Legal Structure And Requirements - There are several ways to legally set up a startup such as a limited liability company, corporation, s-corporation or c-corporation. Many startups will fall under the LLC category. No matter what the startup involves, it's always best to set it up legally which helps protect you from any legal issues that may arise. Setting up an LLC will separate the startup assets from your personal ones which will give your personal assets legal protection should any issues arise. For a musician, this could be a website that includes a description about the band, videos and music streams, store for merchandise and a place for bookings. This will be sending point for the vision of the startup.
Insurance - Many startups will require insurance. Insurance will protect you from any damages caused by your startup if an accident were to happen. For example, a construction company will need liability insurance to meet legal requirements in most cities & states and at times need bond insurance for larger commercial projects to protect against any damages that my accidentally happen. In many cities insurance is required for a storefront much like homeowners are required to have insurance on their homes. A quick internet search can help guide you in the right direction pertaining any insurance you may need.
Bank Account - Law requires your legal startup finances to be separate from your personal finances. This will also allow you to have a good grip on exactly what finances are coming in and going out from your startup. Keeping a detailed log of the complete finances including, invoices, expenses, loans, investments and such will help you create strategic financial strategies for future success.
