It is a basic checklist of what you need to launch your startup.

The Startup Plan - This is the foundation for the startup. Much like a business plan, The Startup Plan is designed specifically for startups of all kinds. It is a detailed plan that covers every aspect of the startups foundation. It includes everything from the vision, mission, finances to the detailed monthly action plan to accomplish the vision. The Startup Plan is a perfect companion to keep close at all times to remind you of the startup direction and purpose.

Name - Everyone will identify you by your name. When choosing a name, It should be a relevant and catchy name that perfectly identifies the startup. it's always good to do a search on the names you come up with to make sure they aren't taken. Choosing a name for your startup can be much like choosing a name for your child, slow and time consuming. It could take months but when you land on it, you will know.

Legal Structure And Requirements - There are several ways to legally set up a startup such as a limited liability company, corporation, s-corporation or c-corporation. Many startups will fall under the LLC category. No matter what the startup involves, it's always best to set it up legally which helps protect you from any legal issues that may arise. Setting up an LLC will separate the startup assets from your personal ones which will give your personal assets legal protection should any issues arise. Also, a legally set up startup will require a FEIN number (Tax ID) for tax purposes. It's free and can you can receive one within just a few minutes. There also may be many federal and state requirements pertaining your startup. Doing an internet search is an easy way to find out what will be required of you to launch the startup. Requirements may include licenses, permits, sales tax permit, trademarks and patents. It's always best to set up your startup in the right and legal way to avoid any potential fines or penalties later.

Place Of Business - Every startup needs a hub to function out of and a place for your market to inquire about your services, content or product. This can be a home office, storefront or website. For a coffee shop this would be a physical location. For a musician, this could be a website that includes a description about the band, videos and music streams, store for merchandise and a place for bookings. This will be sending point for the vision of the startup.

Insurance - Many startups will require insurance. Insurance will protect you from any damages caused by your startup if an accident were to happen. For example, a construction company will need liability insurance to meet legal requirements in most cities & states and at times need bond insurance for larger commercial projects to protect against any damages that my accidentally happen. In many cities insurance is required for a storefront much like homeowners are required to have insurance on their homes. A quick internet search can help guide you in the right direction pertaining any insurance you may need.

Bank Account - Law requires your legal startup finances to be separate from your personal finances. This will also allow you to have a good grip on exactly what finances are coming in and going out from your startup. Keeping a detailed log of the complete finances including, invoices, expenses, loans, investments and such will help you create strategic financial strategies for future success.

Service or Product - What services, product or content will the startup provide? Whatever it may be, become an expert in your field through education, research and hands on experience. Always take the time, energy and resources to continue to grow your craft. Become an expert of your field & make your content, product or service the best that it can be by providing expertise and quality.

Staff - Many times when beginning a startup, the owner will have to wear many hats, doing nearly everything the startup requires. Other startups may require staff. When picking your staff, it is crucial that you choose the right people for the right job. Bringing in someone who isn't right for the job will hurt the startup, cause you discouragement and cause frustration. It's never too early to start thinking about staff and who you would like to fill those positions.
